The house is perched on a hill overlooking the small village of Melazzo. A beautiful, quiet, peaceful location surrounded by nature (deer and squirrels were regular visitors and one night we met a badger). It would be an excellent base for a cycling holiday as there are many quiet twisty roads linking the many pretty villages in the area. Ten minutes drive from the house you can find many points to park and swim in the river, our dog loved this. Speaking of dogs, we found the whole Piemonte area very dog friendly, the people were kind and helpful everywhere we went. If you don’t want to do much the house is perfect for relaxing in. Outside the flat there is a terrace to sit, read, enjoy the view. We spent a lot of our time in the large open air kitchen just eating and relaxing. Both Francesco and Barbara are very helpful giving you ideas for places to visit and things to see in the area (in many languages!) It was a wonderful place to visit and a great holiday.
I’m not exagerating when i say that it’s like walking into a dream. The place in nature, the outside kitchen, the hosts, their little baby and the friendly cat, the views from the house, the vibe in the room, the feeling of freedom and silence… it’s perfect for hiking (saw a dear several times) and doing stuff like winetasting, visiting the little towns surrounding Melazzo etc. Life as it should be: à l’aise.
We had an absolutely fabulous vacation ! Totally recommendable ! Discrete but very accessible host, very childfriendly (when even the tooth fairy knows where they live:-) ) Feel on top of the world on a hill in northern Italy, with a river closeby to refresh your mind. Don’t forget to book a massage with Barbara to complete the 7th heaven-feeling 🙂
The cool, airy and spacious ‘summer kitchen’ was a wonderful bonus. It is shaded by mimosa trees, with a view across the valley, and there’s even a pot of basil for your tomatoes! We were fortunate to be the only guests (it was June) so we (couple with dog!) had it to ourselves. The house is only 10 minutes by car from Acqui Terme and there’s a great pizzeria/restaurant at the end of the road. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, Unesco-protected hillsides, and we saw deer several times. Francesco and Barbara were genuinely awesome. We can’t recommend their home any more highly. For the record, the bed was nice and firm, the shower pressure a bit erratic and all of the cooking facilities/equipment perfect. We stayed for four nights and hope to come back another year – it really is a special place.
